At Innoceana, we are committed to tackling this global issue head-on through our Ocean Plastic Awareness project. By combining hands-on efforts with community engagement and recycling innovation, we aim to reduce the amount of plastic waste in the ocean while educating the next generation on the importance of ocean conservation.
KEY ACTIVITIES
BEACH CLEANUPS
We organize monthly beach cleanups to remove plastic waste from our shores. These cleanups are open to volunteers, and we partner with SCP Wilderness Lodge for remote cleanups involving local teenagers. By cleaning both popular and remote areas, we prevent plastic from further degrading into microplastics and harming marine life.
PRECIOUS PLASTIC
PLANT
Innoceana operates a Precious Plastic system, turning collected plastic waste into valuable products like furniture. This initiative not only helps reduce the plastic burden on the environment but also provides a sustainable solution by transforming waste into something useful.
WORKSHOPS
Our monthly workshops invite volunteers to participate in the recycling process, offering hands-on experience with the Precious Plastic system. These sessions are designed to inspire and empower individuals to take action against ocean plastic pollution and contribute to the recycling movement in their own communities.
