When the makeshift rescue team equipped with machetes and kitchen knives found an adult humpback whale and her calf entangled in what would be at least three miles of fishing line filled with hooks that included two dead olive ridley turtles snagged in the line.
After the rescue, Innoceana wanted to show the world the anthropogenic impact that unsustainable fishing has on marine life, and what is happening in the high seas; but the organization did not have the resources to do so. It wasn’t until 2020 when Innoceana partnered with Pipa and Coco of the Vegan Pirates, experts in audiovisual production, who helped us create our documentary.
