With this new documentary, “Monk Seal: A Way Back,” we wanted to share the incredible conservation story of the Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus monachus) presented by Spanish actress Adriana Ugarte.

The monk seal was once common along the Spanish Mediterranean coasts, but today, they have been practically extinct for three decades.
Hunting, overfishing and urbanization of the coastline were the main causes of the disappearance of the seals.

The documentary takes place in Madeira and Mauritania. Our goal is to give visibility to the conservation of a forgotten species and to all the people who fight and look for its recovery in the Spanish coasts.

Our impact: Thanks to this film, the conservation of Europe’s most endangered mammal species, the Mediterranean monk seal, will be promoted
