Since 2018 Innoceana has been working on the protection of seagrass meadows, known as sebadales, in the Canary Islands. These underwater grasses are of vital importance for the health of coastal ecosystems and, despite this, almost 50% of them have disappeared from the islands in the last 30 years.
Our impact: Effective protection of seagrasses in the Marine Protected Areas of the Canary Islands after their study. Awareness about the importance of the ecosystem.
